Line Test Platform (FALTP)
TechSAT has launched a new test platform for entering the segment of production acceptance testing based on avionics buses.
This solution was developed in the context of a client project. The client was unfamiliar with our company at that time. TechSAT won the tender by proposing the most reliable and scalable solution at a fair and reasonable price.
Production acceptance testing has its specialties as there are mostly examination tasks to be fulfilled:
- Functional testing
- Cable testing
- Turn-key solution – ready to use
- User guidance through examination process
- Automatic, semi-automatic, manually (but guided)
- Report generation
After a 9 month project period TechSAT delivered the first FAL testing platforms to the customer covering the FAL testing of the Flight Crew Rest Compartments and the Cabin Crew Rest Compartments for the Airbus A350XWB. These compartments are assembled at the customer’s site and put into functional operation as a unit for the first time in their product lifetime.
It should be mentioned that TechSAT delivered its first test system ever that can be fully controlled by WLAN in a customer controlled local wireless network. This was necessary to provide the examiner with the possibility to enter the rest compartment while performing the test cases and monitor the results.
The FAL testing solution was developed as a platform solution providing:
- Exchangeability of single platform components
- Exchangeability to maximize test efficiency (parallel testing)
- Spare parts availability
- Short pass-through time for further system delivery
- Low technical complexity and therefore minimized failure occurrence
- Long-term operability (planned for several decades)
The FAL testing platform draws completely on the TechSAT portfolio and is run with ADS2.
The customer recognized the effectiveness of the solution and decided to get TechSAT on board for the next project to deliver the test systems for the complete A350XWB Floor to Floor final assembly line testing.
These test systems will be distributed over several buildings on the customer site and provide examination capability for the assembly of the A350 areas:
- Entrance Area
- Side Walls
- Overhead Stowage Compartments
- Door Frame
The FALTP Family
TechSAT used the given test system design and extended the FAL testing platform with the new requirements by utilizing scalability. The results are three identical platforms with five adaptation types in different numbers to cover the complete final assembly line testing. Everything is generic and modularly combinable.
In particular, these systems are compatible to the former systems and can be exchanged crosswise if temporarily necessary. So the customer is able to scale its workload and can even avoid a breakdown if a test system should fail.
