For quite some time, TechSAT has been offering free licenses of its well-established Avionics Development Platform ADS2 to universities worldwide to support their aircraft systems engineering research and education programs.
In his report shown in blue below, Timur Eksen (M.Sc.), research assistant at the Institute of Aircraft Systems Engineering at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), describes for which purposes TechSAT’s ADS2 platform is used in his department.
Use of test systems for research and support of academic teaching at the Institute of Aircraft Systems Engineering at the TUHH
For many years, the Institute of Aircraft Systems Engineering (FST) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) has been working successfully with TechSAT test systems, e.g. within the scope of research into new methods for the design and integration of fuel cells in aircraft. For several years, FST has also been a partner in joint research projects with TechSAT.
For example, the FST is developing methods for the semi-automated derivation of test cases and observers based on data recordings within the framework of the current aviation research program in the «AGILE-VT» project. Among other things, this is done using system simulations that are executed on one or more ADS2 computers. The developed new technology for systems shall enable faster validation of new systems and system functions from integration and data recording to evaluation.
Apart from the research projects, TechSAT ADS2 systems are also used in the «Avionics of Safety Critical Systems» master lecture. Complementing the theoretical content on test systems, practical relevance is established in exercises within the scope of testing a safety-critical flight control application for an avionics platform. For this purpose, TechSAT ADS2 systems are used to train the future generation of engineers in this field in a practical way.
